Sixth Grade is a very exciting year for Social Studies and Economic Learning. Sixth Grade Social Studies is focused on the Western Hemisphere and Economics will be covered through our Junior Achievement Program. These are also included using deductive reasoning and factual information to explain why there are economic differences between North America and South America.
"Poverty Experiment": These concepts will be assessed during the "Economic Inequality of Latin America" In Class Project, AKA "Poverty Experiment",which will take place during the month of February or March. Kiddos will be asked to refrain from using their technology at school and home during this project, as well as reorganize their eating to not include a morning snack. This is great practice for 7th grade, since they will not be having snack starting next year.
Mapping Final: Kiddos will also be expected to be able to identify and label the countries of the Western Hemisphere, as well as the major physical features by their Mapping Final Exam in June.
